The Chamber’s First Port City Bank Youth Leadership Program take 30 local sophomores and juniors and spends eight months teaching them leadership skills, servant leadership, communication skills, local government, financial literacy and much more. The goal of the program is to help students find their leadership styles and educate them on the needs of our community and how they can use their style to help fill the gap.
Leadership Decatur County allows participants to directly impact the local community by leading by example. The program enhances personal and professional growth while participants gain awareness of current issues, community resources and the social, political and economic needs of Decatur County.
Working closely with the Decatur County School System, the Chamber has developed Fast Cats Leadership Program. All high school students enrolled in the after school program are eligible to take part in the program, which discusses jobs in our community and the skills needed to work in those fields. Students are exposed to leadership styles, resume writing, interview skills, communication skills and other important soft skills.
