The Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome Spring Creek Charter Academy to our membership and celebrate the building of their new campus! Their ribbon cutting will be held on Tuesday, July 30 at 11am on the site of the new Academy: 2501 Vada Rd. in Bainbridge.
SCCA is a public State Commission Charter School opening in fall of 2019 with grades PreK-6th. SCCA will add one grade level per year until 12th grade. The school is based on the successful model of Pataula Charter Academy out of Edison, GA. The SCCA will serve students in Decatur, Miller, and Seminole counties and will be located off of Vada Road in Bainbridge. The mission of Spring Creek Charter Academy is to prepare students for life-long success by partnering with families and communities to create a safe, nurturing learning environment that engages and challenges students, fosters creativity, and instills integrity and leadership skills that inspire students to reach their full potential.
SCCA will use a hands-on, student-centered approach to learning. They recognize that the nature of education does require that some concepts and skills be taught through direct-instruction, but most of those same concepts and skills can be practiced and applied through hands-on, authentic projects. Therefore, SCCA uses a combination of direct instruction and project-based learning. Teachers integrate all areas of the curriculum as much as possible to make connections, which deepens learning.
SCCA will offer special programs and opportunities to help each student experience success in a variety of activities. The school will also offer special needs programs such as gifted, remedial education, and special education classes. The instructional program provides opportunities for the teacher, the parent, and the child to cooperatively share the responsibility for academic growth.
