After receiving continued guidance, information, and recommendations from Governor Brian Kemp, the Georgia Chamber, the US Chamber, the State Department of Health, and the Center for Disease Control, and in order to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce has made the decision to close the Chamber office to the public for a three-week period to outside traffic beginning Monday, March 16th. During this closing, there will be no programs or events. After careful consideration, extensive preparation to ensure we can maintain high levels of productivity, and alignment with decisions made by other large organizations, we feel this closure will allow our staff time to sort through the cancellation of River Town Days and safely continue to serve our members and business community.
Please note that even though our office will be closed to outside traffic, Chamber staff may have to work remotely and at unconventional times. Our goal is to have a functioning and nimble operation that serves our members all the while protecting the health and well-being of our team and their families. We are not changing what we do but how we do it over the short term. Please consider reaching us by phone and email over the next three weeks as opposed to office visits. During the next few weeks, The Chamber is committed to supporting and helping local businesses so that they can support their employees, customers, and community during these uncertain times. We will be working diligently to try and capture data reflecting the economic impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19). We urge all businesses in our community to keep track of any negative impacts to their businesses and be on the look out for surveys sent by the Chamber to collect this data. Our hopes are that the information collected could help provide any government relief that could potentially be offered in the future. As the coronavirus presents significant disruption to our economy and tests our strength, we will be here advocating to help your business weather this storm.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this time and urge you all to take the necessary precautions to keep yourselves, your families, your businesses and our community safe.
